USS Missouri

One of the top attractions for travelers on Oahu is the USS Arizona Battleship at Pearl Harbor.  On December 7th, 1941, this battleship was struck ferociously when Japanese Kamakazi planes attacked US ships at Pearl Harbor.  Up to 1,177 lives were lost on this ship alone.  Quickly sinking into the Pacific, the USS Arizona became one of the few underwater graves in history.  Because of shallow waters at the site of the sunken battleship, pieces of the vessel can still be seen today.  Today, this battleship is a popular memorial site for the lives lost in the Pearl Harbor attacks.  Overtop of the ship is a white memorial building complete with an entryway, center viewing room, and shrine room where the names of the deceased are etched into the marble wall.
